Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book standing appointments with you?

Sure! Many clients choose this option. This means you have a regular time-slot on the same day every week, few weeks, or month, making our time together a new part of your regular routine. If you have a day and time you’re interested in, or a few that work for you, I will do my best to accommodate.

Will your services be covered by insurance?

As a C.C.C. (Certified Canadian Counsellor) and MACP, many insurance companies will reimburse for my services. But because not all insurance providers and plans are created equally, please make sure to check with your provider in advance to see which mental health services are eligible for coverage.

Do you offer support for issues outside of the perinatal scope?

What many people come to find is that the shape of growth work may shift over time. Though I do practice with an emphasis on the perinatal experience, it is not unusual that we may find ourselves moving into areas like past trauma, substance use concerns, pre-existing mental health diagnoses, relationship challenges, and complex grief. Life’s experiences are both fluid and connected, and we factor this into the process.

How much does a therapy session cost?

As of January 1, 2023, my rate has increased slightly from $140 + GST to $145.00 + GST.

Do we have to use video, or can we just use the phone?

Yes! We can use the phone as well. Some of my clients prefer phone sessions to video sessions, either because they are not entirely comfortable with video communication technology, or they like to do their sessions on the go. (Take me for a walk, if you like!) It’s just a matter of personal preference and level of comfort.

Will you ever offer therapy in-person?

During the height of the pandemic, the world learned a new way to connect and access services. Therapy suddenly became more accessible for folks with small children, full time jobs, mobility challenges, etc., and it’s been incredible to see. Exciting, really. I do intend to go back to in-person therapy soon, but at this time I remain virtual.

If we’re not face to face, how do I pay for my session?

Excellent question! At this time, my preferred method of payment is electronic bank transfer, also known as e-transfer. It’s contactless, quick, and easy! Please see my HOW page for detailed instructions on making payments for sessions. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out for clarification.

Do you ever work with couples or youth?

Where applicable, I may be open to relational/couples work. Let’s chat to see if I’m the best fit for you and your partner.

I am not working with youth and adolescents at this time, however I would be happy to offer a referral to a local practitioner who does.

Do you only offer support to women, or men as well?

Though we use the words “mother” and “motherhood” a lot in the perinatal space, I recognize the limitations of such rigid verbiage. If you are curious about whether you may benefit from perinatal support. let’s connect to discuss.

How long do most people usually engage in therapy?

The length of time you choose to engage in therapy is entirely up to you. Typically it is recommended that people participate in therapy for a minimum of eight to twelve sessions, however I have worked with clients for much, much longer than that. As our work unfolds, we will get a clearer picture of what your needs are, and how I can best support you.

I can only schedule sessions for evenings or weekends. Is that ok?

Totally! Life is busy! I get it! Part of my commitment to accessibility is making myself available to my clients at times that work for them. I have a limited number of evening and weekend slots available, and I’d be happy to discuss how we can make the 50-minutes fit best into your week.

I don’t live in Manitoba. Can we still work together?

At this time, I am only offering services to individuals in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.

If you are in another province, I would be happy to do my best to point you in the direction of a qualified provider in your area.
